Abstract

Abstract An inverted cone shape (ICS) patch antenna with hexagonal shape inverted split ring resonator (ISRR) is presented for radar and wireless communication applications. The hexagonal ISRR and the extended coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed considered to work the antenna with wider impedance bandwidth. The proposed antenna operates at 8.92 GHz and 10.89 GHz with wide impedance bandwidth of 4600 MHz (7.64 GHz to 12.24 GHz) . The maximum gain of 8.63 dBi and 5.38 dBi respectively are observed at the two operating frequencies. The proposed antenna produces good co-polarization by minimizing cross-polarization levels which reduces the interference for reliable communication. The good comparison between simulated and measured results has been observed. The proposed ICS antenna has a wideband antenna exhibiting dual-resonance behavior and is suitable for radar and wireless communication applications.
