Abstract

Abstract This chapter outlines an empirical exploration of innovation dynamics within systems influenced by human activity. It begins by examining language, quantifying the evolution of both vocabulary and grammar using extensive historical texts. The analysis then shifts to the formation of social networks, physical spaces, and the complex web of scientific collaboration. Throughout these diverse domains—whether in making new friends, discovering new places, or uncovering scientific concepts—the statistical patterns of innovation processes are consistently observed, revealing universal trends in human exploration.
