Abstract

Abstract This chapter approaches how Generation 1 narrates the transitional events through which it lived. It collects the experiences of several protagonists and catalogues the creative ways in which the three different transitions interconnected, interacted, and influenced one another at a grassroots level; it explores divergences among the transitions and the memories thereof. Such memories recall the dramatic increase in newly free public expression. Lastly, the chapter investigates how several left-wing political actors navigated the transitions, analysing their present and, from their analysis, formulating political positions, tactics, and strategies to realize a desired future. Their own recollections highlight the discrepancy between their expectations and the transitions’ outcomes.
