Abstract

Abstract The conclusion advocates for the urgent need to integrate conflict resolution into biodiversity conservation, acknowledging that tensions around protecting nature are increasing as human development encroaches on ecosystems. This chapter advocates for addressing conflicts early to prevent their escalation and entrenched divisions. It stresses the importance of recognizing the sociopolitical and economic dimensions that often fuel biodiversity conflicts and how these must be factored into conservation efforts. The chapter outlines the art and science of conflict resolution, emphasizing the value of building trust, respect, and dignity between parties. The fundamental principles of dialogue, collaboration, and creative problem-solving are highlighted as essential tools for successful conflict resolution. The chapter concludes by urging conservationists to enhance conflict resolution skills and integrate conflict awareness into all conservation projects and policies.
