Abstract

Abstract This chapter examines the neurodiversity movement’s political aims, framing its struggle as one for justice and liberation rather than mere rights recognition. It critiques rights-based mechanisms by showing how post-hoc modifications leave severely marginalized neurodivergent people worse off in imperialist white-supremacist global capitalist patriarchy. The chapter explores how neuronormativity intersects with race, class, gender, and sexuality and calls for collective liberation through neuroqueering and decolonial praxis. It examines the role of capitalism in reinforcing the normalcy paradigm and urges organizing as workers, voters, and activists to challenge economic structures that perpetuate oppression. Finally, the chapter affirms the urgent need for collective liberation.
