Abstract

Abstract This chapter is one of the two chapters that discuss administration of justice crimes, which are crimes of interfering with or failing to support administration of justice. This chapter argues as follows. First, disobedience offenses can take the form of offenses that criminalize interference with administration of justice. Second, such offenses come in various guises, such as contempt of judicial and administrative proceedings, disobedience of law enforcement officers, obstruction of justice, perjury, and false statements. Third, one may identify the wrongness of committing these offenses as interfering with workings of governmental institutions without which the rule of law and effective governance cannot become a reality.
