Abstract

Abstract Chapter 6 offers a practical approach to teaching qualitative data analysis, emphasizing the complexity and ambiguity inherent in the process. The chapter presents data analysis as three interrelated components: coding, analysis, and interpretation. It outlines simplified, linear frameworks for instructional purposes while attending to the iterative and creative dimensions of real-world analysis. The chapter acknowledges different audiences who qualitative researcers may seek to reach with their findings and reviews various formats for dissemination to these readers. The chapter helps instructors demystify the process of data analysis for students, moving from the premise that the best way for students to learn data analysis is to practice it themselves.
