Abstract

Abstract This concluding chapter reinforces the central argument of The Rule of Love: that agape—attentive, self-giving love—should guide both personal and institutional responses to suffering. It revisits the book’s tripartite framework for Global Health Governance—solidarity, subsidiarity, and stewardship—demonstrating how mercy, compassion, and beneficence are enacted through shared presence and ethical attention. Drawing on literature, philosophy, and art, the chapter shows how love, both universal and personal, transforms community, moral reasoning, and institutional practice. By placing love alongside justice, it contends that humane societies and institutions emerge when care for others becomes both a guiding principle and lived practice.
