Introduction
Abstract
Abstract This chapter outlines the purpose and structure of Integrating Music Across the Secondary Curriculum, a resource for middle and high school teachers seeking to integrate music with diverse subject areas. Building on the author’s earlier work for elementary grades, the book provides over 100 interdisciplinary teaching strategies and lesson plans that align with national standards. Reviewed and enhanced through extensive teacher feedback, the text emphasizes adaptability, collaboration, student choice, and informal assessments. Teachers are encouraged to modify lessons to suit their students and to collaborate across disciplines to foster creativity, engagement, and meaningful learning through music integration.
