Conclusion
Abstract
Abstract The concluding chapter recapitulates the major arguments in the book and restates them as rebuttals to three incompatibility theses on the questions of human nature, the path to goodness, and prospects of human transcendence. It argues that the incompatible, evolutionary, and therapeutic misunderstandings of China are based on problematic temporal consciousness. It positively states the possible cohabitation of two moral worlds so that agents who inhabit both traditions are not required to renounce one in favor of another. It ends by reflecting on the morally salutary consequences of a tragic imagination in comparative analysis.
