Abstract

Abstract The conclusion revisits the question of whether people with refugee past are more sympathetic or more hostile to subsequent waves of migrants, exploring the attitudes of those who were refugees in the past towards refugees in the present. It focuses on how Asia Minor refugee memory and identity are bound together and explains how this study informs and furthers our understanding of the complex relationship between attitudes and refugee past. By portraying some of the interviewees, it reconstructs individual stories, collective memories, and the wider societal narratives of the Asia Minor forced displacement. Finally, it elucidates the main research contributions and provides suggestions for further research.
