Linguistic insights into Alzheimer’s disease: A bibliometric and visual analysis (1995–2024)
Abstract
Abstract Amidst the backdrop of global aging, the societal impact of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) has become increasingly profound. Despite the theoretical and practical value of linguistics in AD research, existing bibliometric analyses lack systematic exploration of linguistic studies in this domain. This study employs bibliometric and visual analyses to examine the development trajectory of AD linguistic research from 1995 to 2024. Findings reveal that global aging trends, policy support, and advancements in linguistic corpora have driven the non-linear growth of AD linguistic research. This study underscores the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in AD diagnosis and intervention, particularly through the integration of neuroscience, linguistics, and artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML). Core journals and high-impact publications have significantly advanced scientific discourse, although their impact remains constrained compared with broader interdisciplinary efforts. By analyzing collaboration networks among countries/regions, institutions, and authors, this study highlights the driving forces of multidisciplinary cooperation in the global research ecosystem. Future priorities include cross-cultural linguistic studies and development of AI/ML-driven tools for automated diagnostics and personalized AD care to address complex challenges.
