Overcoming genetic drivers in alopecia areata: hair regrowth in a patient with AIRE gene mutation (autoimmune polyendocrinopathy–candidiasis–ectodermal dystrophy, APECED syndrome) treated with ruxolitinib
Abstract
We report complete hair regrowth in a patient with autoimmune polyendocrinopathy–candidiasis–ectodermal dystrophy-associated alopecia areata (AA) following treatment with a Janus kinase inhibitor (JAKi). This highlights the effectiveness of JAKi in treating AA associated with genetic disease as well as sporadic AA.
