Abstract

This study evaluates microscopic diascopic dermoscopy (MDD), a novel technique combining diascopy with fluid immersion and inexpensive handheld microscopes, as a low-cost alternative to conventional dermoscopy. In an international cohort of nonspecialist doctors and medical students, we demonstrate that diagnostic confidence using MDD is comparable to traditional dermoscopy when assessing common benign skin lesions, including seborrhoeic keratoses and benign vascular lesions.
