Abstract

Abstract We report polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) composite membranes with 10 μm thick incorporating carbon nitride-reduced graphene oxide (CN-rGO) nanosheets, fabricated by doctor-blade casting. CN-rGO suppressed macropore formation and produced relatively smoother, more hydrophilic membranes. Subsequent treatment with 1,5-diamino-2-methylpentane (DAMP) improved the operational stability of the membranes under the present filtration conditions. The macropore-suppressed membranes exhibited approximately 2-fold higher water permeability than DAMP-treated PVDF membranes up to 99% methylene blue rejection, suggesting CN-rGO-derived nanoscale pathways for efficient water treatment.
