Childhood screening for familial hypercholesterolaemia: all it takes is a finger prick
Abstract
Patients with FH and a high baseline LDL-C concentration reach the cholesterol-year threshold at which ASCVD can occur at a much younger age than those without marked LDL-C elevation. Universal childhood screening followed by reverse cascade screening of parents of affected children allows for early identification and treatment of persons with FH.
