Abstract

This chapter explores the importance of a meeting. It cites that acting as a chair will test a sergeant, inspector, or other police leader’s interpersonal skills to the full. Moreover, formal chaired meetings are convened to satisfy the specific reasons they have been called, such as planning, guidance or information. The chapter then explains the role of a chairperson, which includes fixing the agenda. The chair of a meeting and the minute secretary work in harmony and close cooperation, especially when the minute secretary has a memory of many meetings and acts as an important anchor for continuity, particularly when chairs change on a fairly frequent basis.
