Abstract

Abstract This chapter examines the multiple claimants’ regime under CPR 19.1, which allows multiple claimants to be joined in a single claim when their claims share common legal or factual issues. The regime, rooted in older procedural rules, enables the convenient management of claims by using one claim form for all claimants. The chapter highlights key aspects such as filing fees, disclosure requirements, and case management, ensuring the defendant’s interests are upheld throughout. It also explores the rights of claimants, including their entitlement to appeal judgments and the possibility of their claims being separated or struck out. Finally, the chapter concludes that, while claims are managed collectively, each claimant retains their individual rights and litigation control.
