Targeted Temperature Management After Cardiac Arrest
Abstract
Abstract This chapter examines the TTM trial, which investigated the impact of targeted temperature management (TTM) on unconscious survivors of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. The TTM trial compared two temperature targets, 33°C and 36°C, to assess their effects on all-cause mortality and neurologic function. The study showed no significant differences between the two groups, as mortality and neurologic outcomes remain similar across both temperature targets. The chapter emphasizes that while the debate on the optimal temperature continues, TTM is still a critical aspect of post–cardiac arrest care.
