Abstract

Abstract The past two decades have seen improvements in colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM) survivorship. This has come about through advances in diagnostics, combination chemotherapy, surgical technique and peri-operative care. Whilst surgical resection offers the best chance of long-term cure, CRLM is a heterogenous disease, with highly variable oncological outcome resulting from, as yet, incompletely understood biological drivers. Identification of CRLM patients who will obtain oncological benefit from liver surgery is vital to ensure that this potentially morbid treatment is aimed at those most likely to obtain benefit. How other oncological disciplines integrate into the surgical pathway, and how this is optimized through the MDT, is also explored
