Abstract

Abstract Lung-directed therapy for colorectal cancer pulmonary metastases may be considered in the setting of oligometastatic disease. Pulmonary metastasectomy is the gold standard treatment for patients with favourable tumour and patient characteristics, rather than ablation or SBRT although increasingly a combination of approaches may be used. Multi-disciplinary team decision-making is key when considering therapies to achieve local control and improve prognosis and the chances of long-term cure. Improvements in surgical technique, patient selection, and the use of bronchoscopic biopsy of suspicious lymph nodes prior to resection has now ensured that long-term survival of this carefully selected population is secured.
