Abstract

Abstract This chapter discusses the pearls and pitfalls for various techniques, specifically general technique, vessel technique, stapling technique, bronchial isolation, and lymph node dissection. These pearls and pitfalls discuss unobstructed views, placing instruments or the camera through ports, aberrant anatomy, the best techniques when working with veins, Harkin and similar instruments, inflating the lung, lymph nodes, and more. The chapter highlights these critical elements for safe and efficient surgical technique. Following these recommendations will help thoracic surgeons to avoid complications, decrease operative times, streamline oncologic resection, and help to improve patient outcomes.
