Abstract

Abstract Research opportunities in reproductive epidemiology are shaped not only by unanswered questions but also by rapidly evolving sources of data. The availability of massive amounts of data from electronic medical records and phone apps provides unprecedented opportunities for population-based studies, even while raising new questions about data quality and validity. Possible research questions are presented here, including markers of female fertility, the origins of preeclampsia, natural triggers of labor, definition of fetal growth restriction, genetic predictors of disease heritability, the role of CVD risk factors in pregnancy complications, long-term effects of ART and elective cesarean section, changes in human fecundability over time, minimum possible levels of perinatal mortality, and excess perinatal mortality among ethnic minorities.
