Abstract

Abstract Key Points: • CPET can be used to identify and characterize several common cardiopulmonary conditions. • CPET reveals patterns that are seen in certain conditions. • CPET can be frustrating to interpret at times, because there is considerable overlap between some patterns. • Use the clinical background information to help focus CPET interpretation. • Always rule out ‘mimics’ of some clinical conditions such as anaemia.
