Abstract

Abstract This chapter discusses the growing prevalence of adolescent gambling, highlighting its global expansion and increased accessibility through technological advances. It shows how various gambling activities, such as lotteries, online gambling, and sports betting, have become widely available to youth, often through mobile apps and social media. The chapter presents research indicating that many adolescents engage in gambling, with a significant number starting at young ages, and explores the risks associated with gambling-related problems. It also examines the influence of media, advertisements, and peer and familial factors on adolescent gambling behaviors. Finally, the chapter calls for increased public awareness, research, and prevention programs to address adolescent gambling issues and mitigate the harm associated with them.
