Abstract

Abstract The chapter explores the baptismal covenant in Anglican tradition as a profound declaration of faith that intertwines theological, ethical, and missional implications. This covenant calls for a transformative commitment to follow Christ’s example, emphasizing the rebirth of individuals into a life marked by righteousness and holiness. Baptism is not merely a ritualistic act but a profound statement of belonging, hospitality, and the intrinsic goodness of creation. It aligns with the biblical mandate to steward the earth and reflects a holistic understanding of God’s ongoing creative and redemptive work. Baptism serves as a public declaration of faith and commitment, demanding ethical behavior and social responsibility. The covenant also emphasizes environmental stewardship, recognizing the interconnectedness of social and environmental justice. This approach aligns with the Anglican Communion’s Five Marks of Mission, particularly the call to renew the life of the earth as an integral part of the Church’s witness and service.
