Abstract

Abstract Abstract This chapter explores positive ethics and disability by combining the strengths- and assets-focused framework of positive psychology with the foundational principles of rehabilitation psychology. The resulting model is rooted in a rejection of the negative assumptions of disability present in most traditional approaches to disability ethics. Instead, this model emphasizes the strengths of individuals with disabilities, reaffirms their inherent human dignity, and centers their voices and lived experiences in order to create an approach to disability ethics that is positive in its approach to disability and antiableist at its core.
