Abstract

ON THE COVER: The optimal management of perioperative pain in patients using medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) is unclear. In this issue of Anesthesiology, Bicket et al. evaluated whether the prevalence of MOUD use in surgical patients is increasing and identified which procedures have the highest rate of MOUD use. In an accompanying editorial, Kohan and Viscusi discuss anesthesia challenges in patients with substance use disorder. Cover illustration: A. Johnson, Vivo Visuals Studio.
