Abstract

Abstract This chapter aims to develop a life vest that enhances the swimming experience while ensuring the safety of users. The objective is to design a life vest equipped with a drowning detection sensor chip and a CO2 tube airbag system. The sensor chip detects drowning and sends an emergency call with location information while the airbag inflates to lift the person above water. The abstract addresses the need for safety gadgets in swimming to prevent drowning accidents. The final concept includes lightweight and practical design elements. This chapter methodology involved user research, market research, persona, user scenario, brainstorming, concept development, evaluation using a Pugh matrix, and the creation of primary models. CAD modeling and rendering techniques were utilized to visualize the final concept. Further research and testing are recommended to assess the effectiveness and reliability of the developed life vest prototype. This presentation navigates through the rigorous process of ideation, design, and testing, reflecting our commitment to excellence and innovation. The authors explore the market readiness and potential impact of the authors’ product, substantiated by comprehensive market research and user feedback. By the end of this journey, attendees will witness how the Smart Life Vest stands as a testament to human ingenuity and a beacon of hope for a safer aquatic future.
