Abstract

This chapter examines how mindfulness and compassion can enhance collaborative capabilities among individuals operating in diverse organizational contexts. It explores how individuals in local and multinational organizations can integrate mindfulness and compassion to make better decisions and navigate volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environments more effectively. The study assesses challenges, benefits, and barriers (CBB) when organizational leaders engage in mindful compassionate leadership training (MCLT). The literature points to benefits like stress reduction, emotional regulation, employee retention, job satisfaction, productivity, and creativity, although organizations also encounter barriers when implementing MCLT. The study synthesizes existing research and adopts a phenomenological lens to examine real-world applications of mindfulness interventions and generates valuable insights to mitigate potential implementation barriers. It presents a practical framework that integrates mindfulness and compassion as soft leadership skills in an alternative transnational management system to navigate turbulent global business environments.
