Abstract

Abstract The study sought to explore the media frames applied by Bahrain-based Al-Bilad newspaper in its coverage of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence. It took into account the framing techniques, journalistic forms employed, typographical features, and sources referenced in the newspaper’s coverage of the topic. This research depended on descriptive methodology and content analysis as a data collection tool, where journalistic articles and news published in Al-Bilad newspaper from December 23, 2018, to November 5, 2024, were analyzed and counted, totaling 76 pieces. The authors used a bottom-up enumeration approach. Tolerance, coexistence, and peace dominated the framing of the Centre, by a share of 28% in the newspaper coverage. Next was interfaith dialogue at 19%, followed by rejecting violence, racism, and hatred at 15%. The study urged the need to promote a culture of peace and co-existence in journalistic writings and to prevent the dissemination of extremist ideologies, hate speech, and disrespect to religions and creeds through the press.
