Abstract

Abstract The convergence of past, present, and future educational priorities highlights the urgent need to align teacher preparation with the evolving demands of talent development. Colleges of education, empowered by legislation like ESSA’s Title II, are uniquely positioned to advocate for academic acceleration as a well-researched intervention and ensure pre-service teachers are fully prepared to support advanced learners. With courage and commitment, education professors can help close the gap between research and practice, shaping a more equitable and innovative future for all students. Now is the time for education leaders to act: embed forms of acceleration into pre-service and in-service professional development; advocate for acceleration as a means to equitable access to advanced content, and prepare the next generation of educators to meet the needs of the next generation of advanced learners.
