Abstract

Data analytics has become essential for enhancing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting, allowing companies to better meet the increasing demands for transparency and sustainability. Data analytics provides the capability to monitor and report ESG metrics with accuracy and depth. This technology-driven approach leverages tools like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to proactively address risks and align ESG practices with both regulatory and stakeholder requirements. High implementation costs and technical expertise gaps hinder progress, especially for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that may lack the resources to adopt these advanced systems. This chapter aims to explore both the promising trends and persistent challenges in ESG data analytics, emphasizing the need for standardized frameworks and scalable solutions that democratize access to robust ESG reporting. By addressing these barriers, companies can strengthen their sustainability practices to improve accountability. This discussion not only serves to highlight data analytics’ transformative impact on ESG reporting.
