Abstract

Green behavior in organizations is becoming increasingly imperative as companies align their operational activities with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This chapter introduces the concept of green behavior, green recruitment, and selection, highlighting their growing significance in today’s environmentally conscious business environment. It emphasizes two key perspectives of the recruitment and selection process: first, the adoption of eco-friendly methods in hiring practices and second, the recruitment of employees who possess green values, demonstrate pro-environmental attitudes, and engage in environmentally responsible behaviors. The chapter explores how environmentally friendly practices can be integrated into each stage of the recruitment and selection process. It outlines the various benefits of adopting green recruitment strategies, including the promotion of a sustainability-oriented organizational culture. Furthermore, it explores the broader impact of green recruitment – not only on individuals and organizations but also on society at large. The chapter concludes by positioning green recruitment and selection as a strategic approach that fosters environmental consciousness among employees. This approach enables organizations to balance operational excellence with the pursuit of environmental sustainability objectives.
