Abstract

As academic library professionals, we can significantly amplify our impact on the broader research community by strategically aligning our expertise with the United Nations’ (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a well-established framework addressing critical global challenges. With evidence-based research increasingly vital for SDG progress, social science librarians are uniquely positioned to support this endeavor through expert guidance in evidence synthesis methods, including systematic reviews. Our crucial contributions lie in developing and executing comprehensive literature searches, ensuring the inclusion of diverse perspectives, particularly from marginalized communities, thereby enhancing the rigor and reliability of research findings and directly contributing to SDG 17 by providing comprehensive data for informed decision-making and collaboration. By guiding researchers in aligning their work with the SDGs, we can effectively highlight our role as catalysts for social, economic, and cultural development within the university and global communities.
