Dual-Input High-Gain Expandable Switched-Capacitor-Inductor Cell DC–DC Boost Converter
Abstract
A new non-isolated high-gain DC-DC boost converter with a dual-input single-output expandable topology is presented in this work. The proposed design provides the dual-input high-gain expandable switched-capacitor-inductor cell (DIHGESCIC) converter for advanced power conversion applications using the switched-capacitor (SC) and switched-inductor (SI) techniques to obtain a higher voltage gain. The operating principle of the switched-capacitor-switched-inductor cell is to discharge in series and charge parallelly. The proposed topology produces high gain with comparatively low electrical stress on semiconductors and low current or voltage ripples. It provides common grounding, continuous input current, and allows for increased higher voltage gain by expansion in the proposed structure. Also, the expansion in analogous SC and SI cells do not impact on order of transfer function, which reduces the controller design and tuning complexity. A comprehensive analysis of the operational modes, along with all relevant calculations, is conducted under steady state and continuous conduction mode (CCM). This paper includes state-space analysis, PI based voltage controller design, and comparative analysis. The proposed dual-input 400 V/50 kHz/500 W converter is validated experimentally using TMS320F28379D microcontroller.
