Abstract

The ever-growing reliance on digital storage and cloud-based Platforms raises severe concern about the confidentiality of data and unauthorized access. Conventional file encryption mechanisms depend more on password-based protection, which tends to be vulnerable to brute-force attacks, credential leakage, and replay attacks. Considering these challenges, the paper proposes File Vault Secure, a multi-factor file encryption system that combines password authentication, geolocation binding, and time-based one-time password verification into one security framework. The proposed system ensures file decryption only when the password, correct geographic location, and valid OTP are collectively satisfied. File Vault Secure is implemented as a lightweight web application using Python Flask on the backend, HTML/CSS on the frontend, and the Cryptography library for symmetric encryption.
