Abstract

To realize effective caching in a resource-constrained hardware router such as field-programmable gate array (FPGA), we propose a mechanism for protecting popular content in a lightweight FIFO-based cache on an FPGA-based ICN router. Our FPGA-based ICN router system comprises an interface that retrieves popular-content names from an external data analytics function and makes them keep in the cache on the FPGA-based router. We implement the proposed architecture, demonstrating that our implementation timely maintains popular content in the cache and minimizes the interruption of data forwarding of the FPGA-based ICN router.
