Abstract

Beamforming using massive MIMO has been considered to increase high-speed wireless communications, but the beam search time increases as the number of candidate beams increases. To reduce the beam search time, we have proposed a beam search scheme with fast beam steering. The fast beam steering is performed within a single synchronization signal block (SSB). It can reduce the number of beam search cycles by utilizing multiple beam searches within a single SSB, rather than one beam search per SSB, as in the conventional scheme. However, the performance of cell ID detection is degraded due to the high-speed beam steering. This paper clarifies the effect of the variation pattern of the fast switching phase rotation on the cell ID detection performance.
