Abstract

This paper focuses on a wildlife monitoring system with wireless video transfer, which enables users to remotely monitor and control the status of cages deployed to capture wild animals. We introduce a system employing a wireless technology called diversified range IoT (DR-IoT), which is a private radio operating in the VHF band. The usage of VHF band allows us to achieve a long-range transmission, however, it also poses several challenges due to its low achievable data rates. In this paper, we investigate how to increase the capacity (number of supported cages) and realize video transfer over a low-rate wireless link with experimental results.
