Abstract

This paper demonstrates an examination of the technologies focused specifically on texture mapping and surface modelling in the context of their applications for Augmented Reality (AR) applications. The article highlights the significance of these technologies in modelling immersive and realistic AR experiences while addressing the challenges posed during their implementation. Additionally, the paper dives into the technical intricacies of texture mapping and surface modelling, along with exploring the latest advancements in these domains. Since the texture mapping is desirable to render with realism the virtual 3D models superimposed in an AR environment, hence, the texture mapping and surface modeling necessarily be considered simultaneously. It is observed that as the tech industry is moving towards mixed reality, organizations need to improve the processes and technologies to integrate the real and virtual worlds to support seamless immersive experience for the user interface involving the interactive capabilities with the virtual objects.
