Smart Grid Framework Leveraging Advanced Semiconductor Nodes and RISC Nodes with Agentic AI, Machine Learning, Blockchain, Quantum Computing, and Next-Generation 6G/7G Communication Architectures for Sustainable and Autonomous Energy Systems
Abstract
This paper presents a novel smart grid architecture that integrates next-generation semiconductor technologies, RISC-V edge nodes, agentic artificial intelligence, blockchain authentication, quantum assisted optimization, and future 6G/7G communications to enable sustainable, autonomous energy distribution. We propose specialized hardware designs (e.g. Qualcomm 5G/6G IoT chipsets and RISC-V SoCs) coupled with an agentic AI layer for real-time grid decision-making. Transactions are secured using a Hyperledger Fabric blockchain, while IBM Qiskit–based quantum algorithms optimize grid operations. We simulate the framework using Synopsys/Cadence for VLSI design, TensorFlow for AI models, Qiskit for quantum optimization, and Hyperledger for blockchain. Results show significant improvements in energy efficiency and latency: energy efficiency increases from 65% to 92% (+41%), and latency drops from 18 ms to 5 ms (–72%). The integrated system ensures high data integrity and low communication delay, supporting the move toward carbon-neutral, self-healing grids. Detailed comparisons with traditional grids are presented, showing clear gains across key performance metrics
