Abstract

This paper presents a wearable navigation aid that integrates multiple assistive functions into a compact and portable device. The system provides navigation guidance, obstacle detection, and camera-based signage recognition. Navigation instructions and system status are displayed using an LCD module. A panic button allows users to send emergency alerts along with GPS location information to caregivers or authorities. An embedded controller coordinates sensor inputs, camera operation, and communication functions. A rechargeable Li-ion battery powers the device to enable continuous daily use. The proposed integrated wearable system improves outdoor navigation support, enhances user awareness, and provides reliable emergency assistance. Combining multiple features into a single device reduces the need for separate tools and improves ease of use. Hence, the proposed wearable navigation aid offers a practical and affordable solution for outdoor mobility assistance. It enhances independence, safety, and quality of life for individuals with visual or hearing impairments and is well-suited for assistive technology and IoT-based mobility applications.
