Abstract

The fast integration of electric vehicles (EVs) requires a smart charging infrastructure that can efficiently, reliably, and in real-time handle energy. The traditional EV charging stations usually do not have adaptive monitoring and control, which leads to the inefficient use of energy and the overload of the grids. In this paper, the author introduces an IoT-enabled real-time energy management system of EV charging stations based on an ESP32-based controller with sensing, communication, and control modules. The system constantly checks the voltages, currents, temperature, battery state of charge (SOC), and the presence of charging ports. The information is sent to a cloud platform in real-time to analyse, visualise, and control the data and analyse the energy. The solution enhances the efficiency of energy, makes the charge safer, and enables the scalability of the installation of the solution in institutional and publicly charged settings.
