Abstract

In the Transmission Network (TN), the Available Transfer Capability (ATC) is used to determine the unutilized capability, which enhances the power flow, mitigates the congestion and operates the power system safely. However, ATC reduces the efficiency of the electricity market and limited in heavily loaded circuits and low-voltage profile buses. To mitigate these issues, this paper presents the Coordinated Movement Hunting Optimization (CMHO) to place the Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) at an optimal location. Notably, the CMHO stabilizes both the local search strategy and the global space to minimize the costs and improve the stability of a system. Moreover, the CMHO technique ensures the power system's capability, reduces the costs for the branch and voltage level under contingency and regular conditions. The given technique is analysed using IEEE 14 and IEEE 30 bus system using RMATLAB2024b. Ultimately, the CMHO method achieved the values of average ATC, Real Power load, Average Voltage Stability Index (AVSI), reactive power load, transfer efficiency, temporal uncertainty, and bus voltage, including 0.0295p.u, 0.1545 p.u, 0.973,0.056 p.u, 95.72 %, 0.0002 p.u, and 1.032 p.u, respectively. The obtained results are compared with existing optimization techniques.
