Smart Water Irrigation Using IoT and Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning Techniques
Abstract
Agriculture requires irrigation and is very important in attaining maximum crop growth. However, the traditional use of irrigation has many limitations, where it leads either to excessive use or improper utilization of water. At present, the growing demand for the population with lack of adequate water resources worldwide emphasizes the need for a water-efficient and sustainable irrigation technology. This article explores how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) are reshaping the future of irrigation. By combining machine learning algorithms, wireless sensors, and IoT-based monitoring systems, these technologies make farming more precise, data-driven, and automated-ultimately improving both resource efficiency and crop yields. The discussion highlights different AI approaches in irrigation, the application of machine learning models, and the role of IoT in monitoring soil conditions and weather patterns. It also examines key challenges in current irrigation practices, such as fluctuating water requirements during different crop growth stages and the reliance on stable internet connectivity. The article further traces the evolution of irrigation techniques and explains how modern communication tools and cloud technologies support smarter farming methods. A special focus is given to AgriSens, an innovative IoT-powered irrigation system that addresses these challenges by offering real-time monitoring, adaptive irrigation scheduling, and a user-friendly interface. Designed to work across diverse farming environments, AgriSens combines advanced technology with practical usability, marking a big step toward more sustainable and efficient agriculture.
