Abstract

The modern rehabilitation is changing due to the advanced technological integration that allows accurate biofeedback, enhancing patient engagement, and providing favourable functional recovery outcomes. Recent research has shown that intelligent therapeutic devices can aid custom and remotely controlled exercise programs, which enhance therapy effectiveness and compliance rates. The system of immersive virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) has demonstrated considerable opportunities in enhancing motivation and faster motor learning with the help of interactive and task-based training. Robotic exoskeletons and wearable sensors in neurorehabilitation are objective and quantitative data used as the basis of adaptive and data-driven therapeutic interventions. Occupational and physical therapy interventions that are combined to form hybrid rehabilitation technology further foster patient autonomy, as well as continuity of care. Moreover, consumer-grade wearable devices of consumer grade provide available solutions to the long-term monitoring of neurological disorders and sleep-related disorders in the clinical and home-based contexts. In general, the introduction of evidence-based rehabilitation technologies has great potential for patientcentred care. The next steps to be undertaken in research should be a large-scale clinical validation, systems interoperability, and economic solutions to make them accessible to more people in a broader manner.
