Abstract

Road safety is often compromised due to unexpected obstacles and road surface irregularities like potholes. This paper presents an intelligent vehicle system that uses a hybrid sensor approach for real-time detection of both obstacles and road anomalies. An ultrasonic sensor monitors objects in the vehicle's path, while a vibration/accelerometer sensor identifies potholes by detecting sudden changes in road surface conditions. The sensor data is processed by a microcontroller, and results are displayed on an LCD/OLED screen for immediate visual feedback. Experimental testing shows that the system effectively detects hazards, enhancing safety while remaining cost-efficient. The proposed solution provides a foundation for further development in intelligent mobility and smart transportation systems.
