Multi-Cloud Program Management For Large Scale Deployment
Abstract
Multi-cloud strategies are one of the enablers that have gained urgent importance in large-scale enterprise implementations to provide better resilience, independence, and optimization of their performance. There is, however, a great challenge associated with the governance, cost control, security compliance, interoperability, and service-level assurance of managing large-scale programs across heterogeneous cloud platforms. The paper introduces a multi-cloud program management scheme that is comprehensive and capable of assisting the scaling, reliable, and policy-oriented deployment of cloud environments, which are globally distributed. The framework proposed would combine orchestration as a centralized system, standardized policies of governance, automated monitoring of compliance and performance-aware placement of workloads to ensure that technical performance is aligned to strategic business goals. The major dimensions in program management such as alignment of portfolios, risk management, governing costs, vendor integration, and control over operations are taken care of in a structured manner using the layered architecture. The framework also includes analytics-based decision support to facilitate resource optimization as well as continuous improvement in dynamic multi-cloud ecosystems. Through experimental assessment and case study-inspired industry scenarios, it has been shown that the proposed solution leads to much better deployment agility, cost-effectiveness, service reliability and cross-cloud interoperability than the traditional single-cloud and ad-hoc multi-cloud management practice. The findings have demonstrated the relevance of program management in the practicality of the multi-cloud architectures to large-scale and mission-critical deployments.
