Abstract

Combinatorial Interaction Testing (CIT) tools generate test suites from constrained parameter models. Although substantial effort has been devoted to test generation algorithms, less attention has been paid to the systematic validation of models and generated test suites. Defects such as invalid tests, uncovered tuples, or redundant tests can compromise testing effectiveness or introduce false confidence in the results. This paper presents CTWedgeV, a validation component integrated into the CTWedge framework that automatically checks constrained combinatorial models and their associated test suites. The validator implements an SMT-based check of meta-properties for test-suite quality, including validity, completeness, and minimality. We describe the validation approach, its implementation within the CTWedge framework, and we provide a demonstration to show that the approach is practical and capable of detecting test-suite defects.
